Micromanipulator
The XenoWorks Micromanipulator is designed around our MP-285 electrophysiology micromanipulator mechanism, with the addition of a dynamic, ergonomic, hanging joystick. The three-axis mechanism inherits its vibration-resistance from the demands of electrophysiology research. Its stability makes the XenoWorks manipulator an ideal platform for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), particularly when used together with our BRE Digital Pneumatic Injector and the Prime Tech Piezo Impact Drive System. The XenoWorks Micromanipulator is ideal for animal and cellular research that requires microinjection, aspiration, and transfers into eggs, cells or tissue, including CRISPR, nuclear transfer, and biopsy.
Our redesigned XenoWorks joystick offers an unprecedented level of user comfort. The new controller circuitry is fully integrated within the joystick, requires no fan, and is completely silent. The inverted, height- and tension-adjustable joystick, with its functionally shaped base, allows the operator to place their hands and forearms on the bench surface for superior ergonomics. The function keys and declutch band can be located and activated by touch, eliminating the need to look away from the microscope. Other time-saving features include the user-defined Home position, two user-defined Work positions, and the Setup function, which centers the mechanism along all three axes.
The Diagonal mode feature delivers easy axial movements along the length of the pipette. Combining diagonal mode with the new Pulse motion improves penetration of specimens with a resilient membrane, cuticle or chorion.
For maximum control, both the X- and Y-axes provide lock functions, providing pure linear movements in either horizontal direction. When engaged, the Z-floor positional memory prevents the pipette from touching the bottom of the dish, reducing the risk of damage to the pipette or the preparation. The X-axis positional limit is useful for repetitive injections, such as a row of eggs.
The XenoWorks joystick provides an intuitive feel for the pipette, making it easy to control placement, movement, and speed. Movements of the joystick are converted directly into proportional movements of the pipette. Controls for speed, center of travel, and pre-programmed positions are at the user’s fingertips. By using the joystick’s unique declutch band, users can isolate movements of the joystick from the pipette, permitting a simple and natural ratcheting action for large movements.
The declutch band also acts as a modifier key, providing which giving individual buttons additional functions. Combining this advanced joystick with the Sutter’s proven Sutter manipulator technology creates an ideal system for efficient microinjection.
